PREBA Invited to Join the American Horse Council

PREBA is pleased to announce an exciting new affiliation with the American Horse Council (AHC) in Washington.

The American Horse Council was organized in 1969 to represent the horse industry in Washington before Congress and the Federal regulatory agencies.  It is a non-profit corporation that represents all segments of the equine industry.

PREBA can now better serve the interests of the Pure Spanish Horse and its PRE Breeder members in Washington D.C. and continue to provide the outstanding guidance, compassion, trust, and protection that the PRE horse and PRE breeding community require.

PREBA President, Alexander Zilo said: ” This is an important milestone for our PRE horse and its Breeders as this affiliation  establishes a voice for the PRE in Washington D.C. . The American Horse Council will be another resource available to PREBA to ensure that the Pure Spanish horse is given the same recognition & opportunities as other breeds and is treated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the same manner as all other breeds when arriving on the shores of our country.”

Mission of the American Horse Council

To promote and protect the equine industry by representing its interests in Congress and in federal regulatory agencies on national issues of importance;

To unify the equine industry by informing industry members of regulations and pending legislation, and by serving as a forum for all member organizations and individuals; and

To advise and inform government and the industry itself of the equine industry’s important role in the United States economy.

The mission broadly describes the AHC’s purpose as an organization.

Goal of the American Horse Council

The goal of the AHC is to ensure that the industry works together in Washington to accomplish our ultimate goal of “Keeping Opportunities Open” for the horse industry.  The AHC believes that consensus and coordinated action by our members in dealing with federal legislation and regulations is the best way to accomplish our goal.  The AHC works toward those ends whenever possible.

Vision of the American Horse Council

The vision of the AHC is to be recognized and supported by horse owners and breeders, equine organizations, participants and stakeholders in the industry, members of Congress and federal officials as the primary representative of the horse industry in Washington.

To accomplish our goal and satisfy this vision, the AHC must work effectively with all federal officials to ensure each understands the economic, agricultural, sporting and recreational importance of the horse industry.  We hope that by doing this these federal officials will support a legislative and regulatory structure for the industry, both domestically and internationally, that encourages individuals and other entities to support and participate in the industry, to invest in our horses, and to sponsor and support our events and activities.  The AHC believes that the more opportunities available to use horses in various activities, the better the overall health of the industry and those who participate. usprea
